Background And Objectives: Surgical resection is a first-line treatment for patients with cancer, but preoperative malnutrition is a risk factor for postoperative complications. This study aimed to evaluate the association between preoperative administration of an immunonutrition regimen and postoperative clinical outcomes in patients with cancer undergoing major abdominal surgery.
Methods: The Surgical Prehabilitation Multimodal Oncology (SUPREMO) retrospective cohort study, conducted from January 2021 to December 2023, included patients with cancer undergoing major abdominal surgery.
With the development of serial crystallography at both x-ray free electron laser and synchrotron radiation sources, time-resolved x-ray crystallography is increasingly being applied to study conformational changes in macromolecules. A successful time-resolved serial crystallography study requires the growth of microcrystals, a mechanism for synchronized and homogeneous excitation of the reaction of interest within microcrystals, and tools for structural interpretation. Here, we utilize time-resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data collected from microcrystals of bacteriorhodopsin to compare results from partial occupancy structural refinement and refinement against extrapolated data.

In this transect, the physicochemical parameters of the groundwater as well as the microbial composition of samples taken at different depths and salinities were measured. Many of the dissolved ions measured in the groundwater follow a pattern that reflects the distribution of the water masses (fresh, interface and salt) in the aquifer, while others such as Ca and Mg ions deviate from this trend by identifying the zones of maximum dissolution of the carbonate matrix.
