Aim: Uncontrolled chronic inflammatory diseases (CIDs) before, during, and after pregnancy, as well as some CID medications, can increase the risk of impaired fertility in addition to adverse maternal/pregnancy outcomes in women of childbearing age. We report pregnancy outcomes from prospectively reported pregnancies in Japanese women treated with certolizumab pegol (CZP).

Methods: Data from July 2001 to November 2020 on CZP-exposed pregnancies from the CZP Pharmacovigilance safety database were reviewed.

Article Synopsis
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of death, complicating the development of effective therapies due to the unique nature of each injury.
  • Clinical questions regarding the benefits of measuring intracranial pressure, cerebral perfusion pressure, and surgical interventions remain largely unanswered.
  • This study focused on acute subdural hematoma in a porcine model to better understand secondary brain injury and the effects of different injury patterns on outcomes, highlighting the need for comprehensive models to improve TBI treatment translation.

Purpose: First- (monomers), second- (pre-gelated), and third- (in situ gelating after injection) generation hydrogels were previously introduced to replace the vitreous body after vitrectomy surgery. In this study, we evaluated the surgical, optical, and viscoelastic properties of vitreous body replacement hydrogels before and after an accelerated aging protocol previously applied to intraocular implants.

Methods: Measurements of injection force, removal speed using a clinically established vitrectomy setup, as well as evaluation of forward light scattering and viscoelastic properties before and after an accelerated aging protocol were conducted.
