serovar Typhimurium (STm) causes gastroenteritis and can progress to reactive arthritis (ReA). STm forms biofilms in the gut that secrete the amyloid curli, which we previously demonstrated can trigger autoimmunity in mice. HLA-B27 is a genetic risk factor for ReA; activation of the unfolded protein response (UPR) due to HLA-B27 misfolding is thought to play a critical role in ReA pathogenesis.

Introduction: Early-onset sepsis (EOS) and late-onset Sepsis (LOS) are common diagnoses entertained in sick newborns treated in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), and antibiotics are the medications most prescribed in NICUs. Antibiotic stewardship programs have an important impact on limiting unnecessary antibiotic use.

Methods: Following the Model for Improvement, between 2/1/16 and 1/31/17, at a level 3 NICU, a multidisciplinary team implemented PDSA cycles to promote antibiotic stewardship practices for newborns at risk of EOS and LOS.

The course of pathophysiological mechanisms involved in fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome (FXTAS) remains largely unknown. Previous proteomics and metabolomics studies conducted in blood samples collected from premutation carriers with FXTAS reported abnormalities in energy metabolism, and precursors of gluconeogenesis showed significant changes in plasma expression levels in premutation carriers who developed FXTAS. We conducted an analysis of postmortem human brain tissues from 44 donors, 25 brains with FXTAS, and 19 matched controls.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) often results in heterogenous lesions that can be visualized through various neuroimaging techniques, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, injury burden varies greatly between patients and structural deformations often impact usability of available analytic algorithms. Therefore, it is difficult to segment lesions automatically and accurately in TBI cohorts.
