Few centers have routinely implemented robotic stereotactic systems for deep brain stimulator (DBS) placement. The present study compares clinical outcomes associated with robotic-assisted subthalamic nucleus (STN)-targeted DBS surgery in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) to those of the traditional frame-based method. A retrospective chart review was performed (February 2013-June 2017).

Background: Electrode implantation for deep brain stimulation (DBS) can be performed in numerous ways, but the current "gold standard" is the use of frame-based systems for accuracy. To study afferent and efferent mechanisms of both pathogenesis and forming of the symptoms of dystonia a clinical-electrophysiologic examination was performed in 22 aged 35-69 years patients with cranial dystonia. A wide range of different factors in anamnesis of the patients was found, that had had either short or long influence on the facial zone and that had preceded the development of cranial dystonia (2 month-5 years before its rise).
