Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Shisha Smoking among Undergraduates in a Private Tertiary Institution in Nigeria: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background: Shisha smoking is a growing health concern in most countries and this habit of smoking tobacco is on the increase in Nigeria. It is on the rise among youths along with proliferation of clubs, bars and hotels all over the country. The increased use in Nigeria can be attributed to easy access to tobacco products.

COVID-19 Vaccination Associated Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism: Cause or Coincidence.

Background: Acute pulmonary embolism (APE) is a common cause of morbidity and mortality all over the world. Sudden onset dyspnea and chest pain are characteristic. Prior to our index case, only two previous cases of bilateral pulmonary thromboembolism were reported in black Africans and the first to be associated with COVID-19 vaccination.

Influence of Perception of Family Support and Functioning on Adolescent High-Risk Sexual Behavior.

Adolescents often engage in high-risk behaviors which often have lifelong consequences. It is unclear whether an association exists between adolescents' perception of family support and family functioning and sexual risk behavior. We conducted a cross-sectional study of 702 adolescent students (aged 15-19 years) of a university in Nigeria and assessed high-risk sexual behavior (HRSB) and their judgment of family functioning and support.

Hypertension among adolescents in Nigeria: a retrospective study of adolescent university freshmen.

Purpose: The burden of hypertension is rising both globally and in Africa specifically. We determined the prevalence of hypertension and the risk factors for clinical hypertension in a population of new university intakes over a 4-year period.

Methods: We analyzed retrospectively, the records of 6980 older adolescents (15-19 years).

Sensory quality ratings, consumption pattern and preference for some selected meat types in Nigeria.

Sensory quality attributes, consumption pattern and preference for some selected Nigerian meat types (beef, goat meat, mutton, grasscutter (Thryonomys swinderianus raptorum), African giant rat (Cricetomys gambianus--water house) were investigated. Sensory quality scores were carried out using a panel of thirty carefully screened consumers, based on a 9-point hedonic scale: While consumer consumption pattern and preference were assessed through a field survey of 120 randomly selected respondents using a well structured questionnaire. It was found that beef was the most consumed meat followed by goat meat, then mutton, grasscutter and lastly African giant rat.
