Decarbonization of energy production is key in today's societies and nuclear energy holds an essential place in this prospect. Besides heavy-duty electricity production, other industrial and communal needs could be served by integrating novel nuclear energy production systems, among which are low-power nuclear devices, like small modular reactors (SMRs). The ELSMOR (towards European Licensing of Small Modular Reactors) European project addresses this topic as an answer to the Horizon 2020 Euratom NFRP-2018-3 call.

Velocity map imaging has been employed to study multi-photon fragmentation of vanadium monoxide (VO) via the C 4Σ- state. The fragmentation dynamics are interpreted in terms of dissociation at the three-photon level, with the first photon weakly resonant with transitions to vibrational energy levels of the C 4Σ- state. The dissociation channels accessed are shown to depend strongly on the vibrational level via which excitation takes place.

The twospotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae Koch) is a common pest in agricultural and ornamental crops. This pest can be controlled by resident predatory arthropods in certain situations. This research quantified the stability and resiliency of established conservation biological control of the twospotted spider mite in hop over a 5-yr period associated with nitrogen fertilization rate and use of a broad-spectrum insecticide.
