Objective: Patients with uncontrolled epilepsy are at high risk for sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP), which likely results from a pathological, seizure-induced disruption of vital physiological systems. The objective of this study was to characterize seizure-induced physiological dysfunction leading to death in SS rats and determine the importance of time of day of seizures regarding mortality rates.

Methods: Male and female SS rats were surgically implanted with an arterial pressure telemeter and chronically housed in a custom plethysmograph.

The use of veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) for temporary mechanical circulatory support (MCS) is a common treatment in patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) but is associated with high morbidity and mortality. The combination therapy of VA- ECMO and Impella (ECPella) results in better outcomes. Currently, multiple generations of Impella are available for use in ECPella, however limited data exist to compare devices.

Purpose: To understand the views of parent participants in our larger pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) about the Tool to Empower Parental TeLling and TaLking or the TELL Tool, a digital, psychoeducational and decision-support intervention; and to foster understanding about how pediatric nurse practitioners (PNPs) viewed integrating the TELL Tool into pediatric clinical settings.

Design And Methods: In this qualitative descriptive study, a purposive sample of 10 parents and 10 PNPs completed in-depth, semi-structured interviews by Zoom. The recordings were auto transcribed, checked for accuracy, and analyzed for themes.

In this retrospective observational multicenter study, we identified tumors and immune markers that are related to each other, which could help in selecting patients with bladder primary urothelial carcinoma in situ (CIS) who responded better to Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) therapy. Seventy-three patients with primary bladder CIS who were homogeneously treated with BCG were studied. Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) measured as CD4/CD8 ratio, androgen receptor (AR), adenosine deaminase acting on RNA 1 (ADAR1), adenosine deaminase acting on RNA 2 (ADAR2), and programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression were analyzed using immunohistochemistry, whereas miR-200a-3p and INF-γ were correlated with clinicopathological features and recurrence-free survival.

: Multi-drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria producing metallo-β-lactamase are an increasing concern. Here, we described three cases of infection due to difficult-to-treat and drug-resistant producing metallo-β-lactamases, which were successfully treated with antibiotic combination of cefiderocol plus imipenem-relebactam, and reported on the molecular and epidemiological features of the isolates and the in vitro synergistic effects of different antibiotic combinations guiding antibiotic treatment. : Three strains were isolated from respiratory or blood cultures of three different patients.
