The aim of the study was to assess the informative value of volatile fatty acid parameters for the differential diagnosis of infected pancreatic necrosis (IPN), complicated by retroperitoneal cellulitis. The work was based on the results of examination and treatment of 44 patients with infected pancreatic necrosis. The analysis of concentrations of volatile fatty acids: acetic, propionic, butyric and isovalerianic was carried out on a Kristallux-4000 automated gas chromatograph with an HP-FFAP capillary column and a flame ionization detector.
