Living with psychosis in West and Southeast Africa: SUCCEED Africa's four-country situation analysis.

As part of the formative work of the SUCCEED Africa consortium, we followed a participatory process to identify existing gaps and resources needed for the development and implementation of a rights-based intervention for people with lived experience of psychosis in Malawi, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe. In 2021, we conducted a desk review of published and grey literature on psychosis in the four SUCCEED countries. Using an adapted version of the PRIME situation analysis template, data were extracted across the five domains of the WHO Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Matrix: health, education, livelihoods, social and empowerment.

Potential of water sediments in construction materials: Current approaches and critical consideration of future challenges.

Human activities result in sediment accumulation, so the reservoirs gradually lose their functionality, impacting their ability to manage large flood inflows, supply water, and generate hydroelectric power. Therefore, periodic removal of sediments from water reservoirs is essential to maintain functionality. Notwithstanding, the management of dredged sediments is a multifaceted process that involves careful consideration of environmental, regulatory, and economic factors to ensure their responsibility and sustainable handling.

Pepper power: short-term impact of pepper consumption on the gut bacteriome composition in healthy volunteers.

Background: Pepper from species is a well-established spice with a rich history of culinary use. Some observations have linked its consumption to gastrointestinal discomfort and alterations in stool patterns while it is considered beneficial in some cultures. However, there is lack of information on the direct effect of pepper consumption on human gut microbiota, we conducted dietary intervention studies to assess the impact of pepper on gut bacteriome composition in humans.

Knowledge and Attitudes of Blood Donors Toward Sickle Cell Anemia in Ibadan.

Background Sickle cell anemia (SCA) is a common condition of public health concern in Nigeria. Different therapeutic approaches have been developed to manage SCA, including blood transfusion. In a bid to develop a sustainable solution to the blood supply pool, the SmileBuilders Initiative organizes a blood donation drive (Donate-A-Pint Project) quarterly in Ibadan, Nigeria.

Mobile health technologies in the prevention and management of hypertension: A scoping review.

Introduction: An estimated one billion people globally are currently suffering from hypertension. Prevention and management of hypertension are suboptimal especially in low- and middle-income countries leading to increased complications and deaths. With increased mobile phone coverage globally, this study aims to review mobile health technologies used for the prevention and management of hypertension.
