Background: The use of multiagent FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy for pancreatic adenocarcinoma in a neoadjuvant setting has been associated with an increased rate of complete pathological response (CPR) after surgery. This study investigated the long-term outcomes of patients with CPR in a multicenter setting to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS).

Methods: This retrospective cohort study examined biopsy-proven pancreatic adenocarcinomas with CPR after neoadjuvant chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy and surgery, between January 2006 and December 2023 across 22 French and  2 Belgian centers.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether dual-energy computed tomography (DECT), specifically by measuring bowel wall iodine concentration (BWIC), is superior to monoenergetic reconstructions (MR) for the diagnosis and staging of small bowel ischemia in patients with mechanical small bowel obstruction (SBO).

Materials And Methods: From November 2021 to December 2023, all patients with mechanical SBO who underwent contrast-enhanced DECT of the abdomen and pelvis were evaluated for inclusion. Demographic, clinical and biochemical data were collected.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists studied the kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (kSZ) effect using data from two telescopes, the South Pole Telescope and Herschel-SPIRE, covering a large area in the sky.
  • They found a strong signal indicating that there is a trispectrum, which is a kind of pattern in the data, but it had contributions from other sources too, like cosmic microwave background lensing and foregrounds.
  • By analyzing the data, they couldn't find just the kSZ signal alone, but they set limits on how long the reionization period lasted in the early universe, which helps us understand its history better.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aims to assess how effective drain fluid lipase is in predicting postoperative pancreatic fistula, a serious complication after pancreatic surgery, and determines the most suitable day for measuring this biomarker.
  • - Conducted across seven hospitals, the LIPAse DRAIN study analyzed drain fluid from 625 patients over six days, finding that drain fluid lipase is a reliable indicator on days 3 and 4, with significant statistical values suggesting its diagnostic utility.
  • - Results showed that on postoperative day 3, a specific threshold of lipase levels could reasonably identify patients at risk for developing a pancreatic fistula, recommending routine measurement of this biomarker by day 3 post-surgery.

Introduction: This report with a video describes a laparoscopic central pancreatectomy with modified Blumgart pancreatojejunostomy for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.

Patients And Methods: A 71-year-old woman presented with a single 17 mm lesion in the pancreatic neck, responsible for dilatation of the main pancreatic duct. Cancer staging showed no additional location.
