The association between 17β-estradiol (E2) deprivation, seen in menopause, and a risk for developing glaucoma has been shown. Thus, exogenous supplementation of E2 may protect against retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degradation and vision loss. Here, we investigated the utility of topical 10β,17β-dihydroxyestra-1,4-dien-3-one (DHED), a prodrug of E2 that selectively produces the neuroprotective hormone in the retina, on visual function after optic nerve crush (ONC) and ovariectomy (OVX).

Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is the preferred treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs). This study evaluated the differences between the anticipated and actual achieved proximal sealing zones for standard EVAR endografts and their potential implications in a real-world AAA population. Data from 275 consecutive EVAR patients treated with the Endurant endograft (Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA) between 2009 and 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.

Chronic coronary syndromes (CCS) are the most common clinical manifestation of coronary atherosclerosis. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) is a recent innovation in non-invasive cardiac imaging. It is the only anatomical imaging method that allows direct visualization of the coronary lumen, vessel walls, and atherosclerotic plaques, offering high sensitivity and a strong negative predictive value.

Background: The impact of the COAPT results on clinical practice has not yet been investigated in large real-world cohort study. The aim of the study is to evaluate the potential impact of the COAPT trial by analyzing the temporal trends of baseline characteristics and outcome of secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) patients undergoing MitraClip (MC) included in the GIOTTO registry.

Methods: The study population was divided into 2 groups, considering the enrolment before or after the COAPT publication.
