In the present study, a novel voltammetric sensor based on a boron-doped copper oxide/graphene (B-CuO-Gr) nanocomposite and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was developed for the detection of paclobutrazol (PAC) in apple and orange juice samples. The B-CuO-Gr nanocomposite was prepared using sol-gel and calcination methods. After modifying glassy carbon electrodes with the B-CuO-Gr nanocomposite, PAC-imprinted electrodes were prepared in the presence of 100.

Article Synopsis
  • Cardiovascular disease (CVD) significantly affects people living with HIV (PLWH), with this study finding a diagnosed CVD prevalence of 10.8% among 1425 participants aged 40-75.
  • The assessment utilized five different risk evaluation tools, revealing that 42.8% of participants had a high 10-year risk of CVD, while 71.7% were classified as high- to very high-risk using the SCORE2 tool.
  • The findings stress the need for better cardiovascular health monitoring and highlighted that current utilization of lipid-lowering therapy is inadequate, despite a large number of PLWH being eligible for such treatment per recent guidelines.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study compared the complications and outcomes of two surgical approaches (lateral vs. central Achilles tendon-splitting) for treating Haglund syndrome in patients who underwent surgery from June 2012 to June 2022.
  • - A total of 66 patients participated, with significant improvements in pain and function scores measured through AOFAS, VAS, and VISAA for both surgical approaches, but no major differences in outcomes or complication rates were observed.
  • - The conclusion is that both surgical methods are safe and effective, showing comparable results in treating Haglund syndrome without significant differences in recovery or complications.

Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of reduced acromiohumeral distance (AHD) and increased acromial thickness (AT) on the risk of rotator cuff tear (RCT).

Methods: Patients aged 25-70 were included in this retrospective study. Patients who were operated on for RCT between January 2019 and December 2021 were included in group 1, and patients who applied to the outpatient clinic in the same period with a complaint of shoulder pain and no problem on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were included in group 2.

Objectives: In Toronto, many families with Somali backgrounds have children living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). At our clinic, children with African and Caribbean backgrounds have higher glycated hemoglobin than children from European backgrounds. In this study, we explored the experiences and perspectives of Somali Canadian families with children living with T1D, as well as health-care professionals (HCPs) who care for them, to better understand how T1D impacts these families.
