Background: Domestic violence (DV) is a public health problem in the United States. Emergency physicians are often the first providers to see patients needing acute care for injuries sustained secondary to DV and are an important part of the healthcare workforce for underserved populations seeking help. While much has been published about the need for better identification and care of this population, little is known about the current prevalence and characterization of DV curricula in accredited emergency medicine residency programs.

This study investigated the association between self-compassion and psychological pain across various demographic variables. Using canonical correlation analysis, we observed an inverse relationship between the combined factors of the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) and the Orbach and Mikulincer Mental Pain Scale (OMMP-8). Subgroup analyses revealed differences in SCS subscales among demographic groups with females, individuals with mental health diagnoses, and non-athletes displaying higher scores on negative SCS subscales and PsyPn.

Objectives: Precision medicine is data-driven health care tailored to individual patients based on their unique attributes, including biologic profiles, disease expressions, local environments, and socioeconomic conditions. Emergency medicine (EM) has been peripheral to the precision medicine discourse, lacking both a unified definition of precision medicine and a clear research agenda. We convened a national consensus conference to build a shared mental model and develop a research agenda for precision EM.

Although it is widely accepted that protein function is largely dependent on its structure, intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) lack defined structure but are essential in proper cellular processes. Mammalian high mobility group proteins (HMGA) are one such example of IDPs that perform a number of crucial nuclear activities and have been highly studied due to their involvement in the proliferation of a variety of disease and cancers. Traditional structural characterization methods have had limited success in understanding HMGA proteins and their ability to coordinate to DNA.
