The influence of sex on non-motor wearing-off in Parkinson's disease: A WORK-PD post-hoc study.

Introduction: The wearing-off phenomenon is characterized by the recurrence of motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinsonism during a period free from levodopa. It is a pivotal aspect marking the end of the pharmacological "honeymoon" period in Parkinson's disease (PD). A growing body of literature is connecting sex with the likelihood of developing fluctuations.

Lessons from Grassroots Efforts to Increase Gender-Affirming Medical Care for Transgender and Gender Diverse Youth in the Community Health Care Setting.

Increasingly, transgender and gender diverse (TGD) youth are seeking gender-affirming medical care. Most multidisciplinary gender-affirming pediatric clinics are located in academic facilities in urban areas. To improve access to care and advance the field, grassroots establishment-without targeted funding or explicitly trained gender health providers-of multidisciplinary gender health clinics in rural and community health care settings can increase care access and lay the foundation for dedicated funding, staff, and clinic space.

Patient Empowerment Among Transgender and Gender Diverse Youth.

Patient empowerment is becoming increasingly important as health care moves toward more collaborative models of care. The goal of this study was to evaluate and characterize patient empowerment in a sample of transgender/gender-diverse/nonbinary (TGDNB) youth aged 14-24 who have had at least one conversation with a medical health care provider about gender-affirming care. We adapted a health care empowerment scale for use with TGDNB young people and collected patient empowerment and sociodemographic data among TGDNB youth in the United States over an 8-week period in the spring of 2022.

Harmonic ratio is the most responsive trunk-acceleration derived gait index to rehabilitation in people with Parkinson's disease at moderate disease stages.

Background: Harmonic ratios (HRs), recurrence quantification analysis in the antero-posterior direction (RQA), and stride length coefficient of variation (CV) have recently been shown to characterize gait abnormalities and fall risk in people with Parkinson's disease (pwPD) at moderate disease stages.

Research Question: This study aimed to i) assess the internal and external responsiveness to rehabilitation of HR, RQA, and CV, ii) identify the baseline predictors of normalization of the gait stability indexes, and iii) investigate the correlations between the gait indexes modifications (∆) and clinical and kinematic ∆s in pwPD at Hoehn and Yahr disease staging classification 3.

Methods: The trunk acceleration patterns of 21 pwPD and 21 age- and speed-matched healthy subjects (HSmatched) were acquired during gait using an inertial measurement unit at baseline (T0).

Hydrochar and hydrochar co-compost from OFMSW digestate for soil application: 1. production and chemical characterization.

The best available technique (BAT) for managing the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) is represented by anaerobic digestion (AD) and subsequent composting. This research explored a new industrial model in the framework of the C2Land international project, with the insertion of hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) as a post-treatment for OFMSW digestate. The reaction was set for 3 h at three different temperatures (180 ÷ 220 °C); the wet solid hydrochar obtained after filtration was then co-composted with greenery waste as a bulking agent and untreated OFMSW digestate in four different proportions in bench-scale bioreactors.
