Article Synopsis
  • • A study investigated how a sex pheromone (cis-vaccenyl acetate or cVa) transferred to eggs by female flies affected male behavior and pheromone release, depending on whether the eggs were exposed to maternal factors 1 day or 5 days after mating.
  • • By observing these effects over 40 generations, the research found significant differences in reproductive traits, survival, and gene expression between flies exposed to maternal factors at different times, suggesting these maternal influences can shape adult characteristics.

Merocyanine dye based fluorescent organic compound has been synthesized for the detection of glutamine. The probe showed remarkable fluorescent intensity with glutamine through ICT (Intermolecular Charge Transfer Mechanism). Hence, it is tested for the detection of glutamine using colorimetric and fluorimetric techniques in physiological and neutral pH (7.

Regulator of telomere elongation helicase 1 (RTEL1) is an Fe-S cluster containing DNA helicase that plays important roles in telomere DNA maintenance, DNA repair, and genomic stability. It is a modular protein comprising an N-terminal helicase domain, two tandem harmonin homology domains 1 & 2 (HHD1 and HHD2), and a C-terminal C4C4 type RING domain. The N-terminal helicase domain disassembles the telomere t/D-loop and unwinds the G-quadruplex via its helicase activity.

Biosorption efficacy of Bacillus strain DPAML065, isolated from the tannery sludge, was appraised for the removal of toxic hexavalent chromium (VI) ions from synthetic wastewater. Effects of the process variable on biosorbent surface by variation in pH, metal Cr(VI) concentration and retention time were examined using batch experiments. The isolated Bacillus strain biosorbent was studied for its morphology and surface chemistry through FE-SEM, EDX and FTIR.
