Ultra short pulse Ti:sapphire lasers, crucial for most demanding applications, have traditionally been complex and costly due to their pump sources. GaN-based laser diodes offer new prospects for pumping, yet challenges persist in achieving sufficient Ti:sapphire output power and beam quality. We introduce what we believe to be a novel approach using pulsed blue laser diode pumping of a Ti:sapphire amplifier.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the skin adhesion of a new rotigotine transdermal patch (ROT-TDS) to an existing product for patients with Parkinson's disease (PD).
  • Research included pharmacokinetic testing on healthy adults and a trial on PD patients to assess adhesion and safety.
  • Results showed that ROT-TDS had similar effectiveness and safety as the reference patch but also demonstrated better skin adhesion, with a higher percentage of patches staying adhered through the dosing period.

The mass proliferation of cyanobacteria, episodes known as blooms, is a concern worldwide. One of the most critical aspects during these blooms is the production of toxic secondary metabolites that are not limited to the four cyanotoxins recognized by the World Health Organization. These metabolites comprise a wide range of structurally diverse compounds that possess bioactive functions.

Separate collection and treatment of urine optimizes nutrient recovery and enhances micropollutant removal from municipal wastewater. One typical urine treatment train includes nutrient recovery in three biological processes: anaerobic storage, followed by aerobic organics degradation concurrently with nitrification. These are usually followed by activated carbon adsorption to remove micropollutants.
