Background: Preeclampsia is a severe pregnancy complication affecting 2-8% of pregnancies globally, contributing to substantial maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with an increased risk of preeclampsia, yet the efficacy of its supplementation during pregnancy in reducing preeclampsia incidence remains uncertain.

Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of vitamin D supplementation on the incidence of preeclampsia and related maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Vanadium oxide-based compounds have attracted significant interest as battery materials, especially in aqueous Zn-ion batteries, due to favorable properties and compatibility in Zn-ion systems. In a simple hydrothermal method with moderate conditions, a novel vanadium oxide compound has been synthesized using ammonium metavanadate with oxalic acid as a reducing agent. Various characterization techniques confirmed the formation of layered VO(HO) nanoplatelets with a tetragonal crystal structure.

Gasotransmitters play crucial roles in regulating many physiological processes, including cell signaling, cellular proliferation, angiogenesis, mitochondrial function, antioxidant production, nervous system functions and immune responses. Hydrogen sulfide (HS) is the most recently identified gasotransmitter, which is characterized by its biphasic behavior. At low concentrations, HS promotes cellular bioenergetics, whereas at high concentrations, it can exert cytotoxic effects.

Article Synopsis
  • Candida spp. are prevalent opportunistic fungal pathogens, with a study in Palestine revealing an 11.6% infection rate among patients diagnosed in 2022.
  • The most common species identified were C. albicans (46.54%), followed by C. glabrata and C. tropicalis, with variations in susceptibility to antifungal treatments noted.
  • The study highlighted the higher incidence of infections in intensive care units and surgery departments, emphasizing the significant role of non-albicans Candida species in invasive infections.

Background/objectives: Yoga is effective for adults with arthritis but unstudied in adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).

Methods: A pilot study assessed the feasibility and acceptability of an 8-week group yoga intervention for adolescents ages 14-18 with JIA. Each 75-min session included breathing techniques, relaxation, mindfulness, and modified yoga postures, using yoga props and a rope wall.
