Influenza Vaccination Rates Among Parents and Health Care Personnel in a German Neonatology Department.

The influenza vaccination is recommended for all German pregnant women and health care personnel (HCP). We are the first to publish vaccination rates of mothers of hospitalized newborns and HCP in neonatal units. Between September 2016 and March 2017, data were collected in our level-III neonatology department in this descriptive multidisciplinary study, using an anonymous questionnaire.

The Quantity and Quality of Illegally Imported Products of Animal Origin in Personal Consignments into the European Union Seized at Two German Airports between 2010 And 2014.

The import of products of animal origin (POAO) in travellers' personal consignments presents a considerable risk of introducing animal diseases and emerging zoonoses into the European Union. The current regulation (EU) 206/2009 implements strict measures for illegally imported POAO, whereupon non-complying products have to be seized and destroyed regardless. Especially airports serve as global bottlenecks for illegally imported POAO where passenger controls of non-European flights are performed by customs and veterinary services in collaboration.

Sexual impairment and its effects on quality of life in patients with rectal cancer.

Background: The effects of rectal surgery on patients' postoperative quality of life (QOL) and sexual function has been little studied to date. The present study aims to address this issue.

Methods: 519 patients who had undergone surgery for rectal cancer from January 1997 to January 2003 were included in the study.

Distributed current analyses of bi-hemispheric magnetic N1m responses to ipsi/contralateral monaural stimuli from a single subject.

Magnetoencephalographic (MEG) responses of both auditory cortices to simple auditory stimuli presented monaurally to either ear were recorded from a single subject. A distributed current model and a current dipole model were used to analyse the responses at the latency of the dominant N1m complex. At the N1m the current density was localised to a single area and was consequently well modelled by a single current dipole close to the peak current density.

To analyse spontaneous multichannel slow-wave MEG activity a tool was developed to extract focal abnormal activity with a higher spatial dipole density across time. The first version works on discrete volume units, the second version avoids a possible location error, works continuously and can be adjusted for individual slices three-dimensionally.
