The enhancing effect on the water structure has been confirmed for most of the osmolytes exhibiting both stabilizing and destabilizing properties in regard to proteins. The presented work concerns osmolytes, which should be classified as "structure breaking" solutes: taurine and N,N,N-trimethyltaurine (TMT). Here, we combine FTIR spectroscopy, DSC calorimetry and DFT calculations to gain an insight into the interactions between osmolytes and two proteins: lysozyme and ubiquitin.

Tibialis posterior tendon injuries are commonly missed and can result in significant foot deformity. In the young athlete these are best diagnosed acutely with ultrasound and may be treated conservatively or operatively. We present the case of a young serviceman and describe the treatment plan that was successful in allowing an early return to exercise.

Objective: The purpose of the study was to determine if the thickness of the subacromial-subdeltoid (SASD) bursa during dynamic ultrasound and on static views differs between patients with shoulder impingement syndrome and healthy volunteers.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-two patients with a clinical diagnosis of shoulder impingement syndrome and 23 healthy volunteers were recruited. A subset of patients showing an immediate symptom response following intrabursal injection was identified as "injection responders".

Introduction: The gastroduodenal artery (GDA) is usually embolised to avoid nontarget dispersal before yttrium-90 (Y(90)) radioembolisation to treat liver metastases. In a minority of patients, there is retrograde flow in the GDA. The purpose of this study was to determine if there is any increased risk from maintaining a patent GDA in patients with reversed flow.

Pleomorphic adenoma is the single most common salivary gland tumour. It has a diverse histological presentation because of varying proportions of different epithelial and mesenchymal elements, and presents clinically and radiologically in various ways as it occurs at many different sites in the head and neck region. The choice of imaging is influenced by its site and size, and a range of options for treatment includes both operation and radiotherapy.
