Prognosis Associated with Complete Pathological Response Following Neoadjuvant Treatment for PancreaTic AdenOcarciNOma in the FOFLIRINOX Era: the Multicenter TONO Study.

Background: The use of multiagent FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy for pancreatic adenocarcinoma in a neoadjuvant setting has been associated with an increased rate of complete pathological response (CPR) after surgery. This study investigated the long-term outcomes of patients with CPR in a multicenter setting to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS).

Methods: This retrospective cohort study examined biopsy-proven pancreatic adenocarcinomas with CPR after neoadjuvant chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy and surgery, between January 2006 and December 2023 across 22 French and  2 Belgian centers.

Intraoperative HIFU ablation of the liver at the hepatocaval confluence as adjunct to surgery: Preliminary animal experiments.

Treating colorectal liver metastases (CLMs) located at the hepatocaval confluence with surgery is challenging due to its complexity and associated high risks of perioperative mortality and morbidity. Moreover, thermal ablation techniques are sensitive to the "heat-sink" effect, which reduces their efficacy when tumors are in contact with major blood vessels. In this study we evaluated the feasibility and safety of an intraoperative high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) device for destroying liver tissue volumes sufficiently large to consider treating CLMs at the hepatocaval confluence.

Computational docking of FtsZ: Survey of promising antibiotic compounds.

The bacterial cell-division protein FtsZ has been a promising antibiotic target for over a decade now, but there is still a need for more work in this area. So far there are no FtsZ targeting drugs commercially available. We have analyzed a wide variety of prospective drugs and their interactions with multiple FtsZ species using both free and directed docking simulations.
