Equipping Nurse Practitioner Students With Social Determinants of Health Competencies.

Background: Social determinants of health (SDOH) cause significant burden on individuals living with acute and chronic disease. There are meaningful data to support screening for social needs, yet implementation limitations exist in the clinical setting. Incorporating SDOH education into nurse practitioner (NP) curriculum provides a framework for bringing these concepts into clinical practice.

Exploring the Conformational Landscape of Poly(l-lysine) Dendrimers Using Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry.

Ion mobility mass spectrometry (IM-MS) measures the mass, size, and shape of ions in the same experiment, and structural information is provided via collision cross-section (CCS) values. The majority of commercially available IM-MS instrumentation relies on the use of CCS calibrants, and here, we present data from a family of poly(l-lysine) dendrimers and explore their suitability for this purpose. In order to test these compounds, we employed three different IM-MS platforms (Agilent 6560 IM-QToF, Waters Synapt G2, and a home-built variable temperature drift tube IM-MS) and used them to investigate six different generations of dendrimers in two buffer gases (helium and nitrogen).

Photocarrier Recombination Dynamics in Highly Scattering CuO Nanocatalyst Clusters.

Inversion analysis of transient absorption data to capture the photoexcited charge carrier population rate dynamics is a powerful technique for extracting realistic lifetimes and identifying recombination pathways. However, for highly scattering samples such as CuO nanoparticles (NPs) with associated dielectric Mie scattering, the scattering leads to an inaccurate measure of the excited photocarrier. This work studies methods to correct for the scattering to generalize the use of inversion analysis and provide secondary information about the nature of the scattering NPs.

Crushing the Contents of Valbenazine Capsules for Potential Addition to Soft Foods or Administration via Gastrostomy Tube.

Purpose: One-capsule, once-daily valbenazine is approved for tardive dyskinesia and under evaluation for chorea associated with Huntington's disease, conditions in which patients often experience dysphagia. In vitro studies were conducted to assess the suitability of crushing the contents of valbenazine capsules (40 and 80 mg) for mixing with soft foods or liquids or administration via a gastrostomy tube (G-tube).

Methods: In study 1, the dissolution of whole valbenazine capsules and crushed capsule contents were measured serially for 1 hour.
