Introduction: Although recurrent diverticulitis appears to be a chronic relapsing disease from a clinical standpoint, there are no sufficient data about inflammatory markers that allow monitoring recurrent diverticulitis in the quiescent phase. Our hypothesis is that serum inflammatory markers may be increased during clinical quiescent phases of diverticulitis and will drop after elective laparoscopic sigmoidectomy for uncomplicated recurrent diverticulitis. We also believe that a drop in IL-6 levels across surgery could be related to an improved quality of life.

Pharmacotherapy can be associated with life style changes in increasing and maintaining weight loss and ameliorating obesity-related complications and comorbidities. In patients affected by obesity and uncontrolled obesity-associated complications or high degrees of BMI (> 40 Kg/m), metabolic bariatric surgery can be a valid therapeutic option.

Background: To evaluate the evidence related to maintaining the integrity and filtration efficiency of N95 and/or PFF2 respirators after decontamination in health care professionals' protection against COVID-19.
Methods: Systematic review, developed based on the guidelines from Joanna Briggs Institute for syntheses focusing on effectiveness evidence. The protocol was registered on the International Prospective Register of Ongoing Systematic Reviews platform, under the number CRD42022354256.
Objective: In pregnancies complicated by maternal obesity and diabetes, a disruption in inflammatory mediators occurs, resulting in endothelial microvascular dysfunction, oxidative stress, tissue damage, and maternal and feto-neonatal complications. To outline this proinflammatory status, an innovative approach is represented by the measurement of proinflammatory cytokines. Among these biomarkers, B-cell-activating factor (BAFF) and platelet-activating factor (PAF) play a key role in metabolic regulation, immune response to infections, tissue homeostasis, and "food-related inflammation.
