The male gonad receives nerve fibres from the autonomic ganglionic system. These fibres converge on the testis along two pathways, the superior and the inferior spermatic nerves. The superior spermatic nerve runs from the superior mesenteric ganglion alongside the testicular artery, whereas the inferior spermatic nerve originates in inferior mesenteric ganglion, accompanies the vas deferens and penetrates the inferior pole of the testis.

This mandate applies to medical schools, but no systematic information is available to assess the accommodations provided to medical school faculty with disabilities. This Issue Brief summarizes anecdotal evidence from several medical schools about the experiences of faculty with disabilities, and the barriers they face in establishing and maintaining their careers.

Medical students, who become the practicing physicians of the future, and their patients have suffered because of this academic malaise. Most new physicians are even more confused than their patients about how to navigate outpatient managed care, how to practice efficiently (after being taught that more is better), and how to uphold their sacred trust with their patients in the context of institutionally based medicine.
