Background: While construction workers have the second highest rate of heat-related mortality, less is known about the prevelance of heat-related illness (HRI) symptoms, dehydration and kidney dysfunction. The aim of this study was to conduct a biomedical field-based study with construction workers to characterize HRI symptoms, dehydration, and kidney dysfunction, and analyze relationships between post-work urine specific gravity (USG) percentiles and predictors such as work hours, water consumption, and sugary beverage consumption.
Methods: In collaboration with the Farmworker Association of Florida, 58 construction workers in Central Florida were monitored pre- and post-work shift on one workday.
Aneurismal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is a neurovascular disease characterized by blood released into the subarachnoid space due to rupture of the cerebral arteries. After the onset of bleeding, secondary associated vasospasm (VSP) remains a dramatic side effect that causes severe comorbidities. We analyzed alterations in the expression profiles of arteries from a rat model of SAH using microarray and bioinformatics approaches.

We report a rare case of aortic valve leaflet avulsion after balloon expandable TAVR managed with urgent surgery.
Case Presentation: A 78-year-old male underwent TAVR complicated by avulsion of the native aortic valve leaflet's left coronary cusp.
Introduction and objective Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a subject with which preclinical medical students often struggle. Because case-based learning (CBL) engages students in discussions centered around complex clinical scenarios, it may be effective for teaching ILD to preclinical medical students by fostering the development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. Methods Lecture-based learning on ILD in the second-year Respiratory System course was replaced with a large group CBL session.
