Genes involved in lipid metabolism have been considered potential therapeutic targets in lung cancer because lipid metabolism is severely disrupted in this cancer. Monoglyceride lipase (MGLL) is a lipolytic enzyme that converts monoacylglycerides to fatty acids and glycerol. MicroRNAs (miRNA), one of the most important epigenetic regulators of gene expression, are also considered potential biomarkers in diagnosing, treating, and prognosis lung cancer.

Comparative analysis of volume change behavior of expansive road subgrades stabilized with waste paper sludge.

Expansive soils have a high tendency for volume change in case of fluctuations in moisture content, potentially causing significant damage to light structures, particularly road pavements. This paper investigates the influence of waste paper sludge ([Formula: see text]) as an alternative sustainable stabilizer on the volume change behavior of expansive road subgrade soils of different origins. For this purpose, [Formula: see text] was added to the expansive soils at ratios of 3%, 6%, 9%, 12%, and 15% by dry weight of the soils.

Systemic anticancer therapy near the end of life: an analysis of factors influencing treatment in advanced tumor disease.

Background: Systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) for advanced cancer patients with limited prognosis before death is associated with high toxicity and reduced quality of life. Guidelines discourage this approach as low-value care. However, a significant number of patients continue to receive SACT in the last 30 days of life.

Evaluation of Exudative Pleural Effusions: A Multicenter, Prospective, Observational Study.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the diagnostic performances of pleural procedures in undiagnosed exudative pleural effusions and to evaluate factors suggestive of benign or malignant pleural effusions in tertiary care centers.

Methods: This was a multicenter prospective observational study conducted between January 1 and December 31, 2018. A total of 777 patients with undiagnosed exudative pleural effusion after the initial work-up were evaluated.
