Article Synopsis
  • - A study was conducted on patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) and severe tricuspid insufficiency to determine criteria for selecting candidates for tricuspid valve correction, highlighting that tricuspid regurgitation is an independent risk marker for mortality in these patients.
  • - Out of an initial 271 patients, 123 were confirmed to have severe precapillary PH and severe tricuspid regurgitation; results showed that the sPAP/PAAT ratio was significantly higher in severe PH patients compared to those with mild or postcapillary PH.
  • - The findings indicate that while the average sPAP/PAAT ratio of deceased patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation was 0.76, this information alone is

: In adults, 150 to 300 min a week of moderate-intensity physical activity is the recommended daily level to maintain or improve fitness. In subjects with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), reductions in daily physical activity (DPA) amounts are related to clinically significant outcomes. In this study, we ascertain whether or not COPD patients, when clustered into active (DPA ≥ 30 min a day, 5 days a week) and inactive (DPA < 30 min a day, 5 days a week), may differ in exercise capacity, as assessed by a cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET).

Background: Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are global health challenges leading to substantial morbidity and mortality. While existing guidelines emphasize evidence-based treatments, the potential therapeutic role of thermal water (TW) inhalation remains under-investigated.

Methods: This systematic review followed PRISMA-P guidelines and sought to evaluate the impact of TW in asthma and COPD.

We present the case of a 49-year-old woman admitted to the emergency department for chest pain and fever.
