The objective of this study is to develop a universally applicable approach for establishing the optimal dose range for the irradiation of plant and animal products. The approach involves the use of the optimization function for establishing the optimal irradiation dose range for each category of plant and animal product to maximize the suppression of targeted pathogens while preserving the surrounding molecules and biological structures. The proposed function implies that pathogens found in the product can be efficiently suppressed provided that irradiation is performed with the following criteria in mind: a high irradiation dose uniformity, a high probability of irradiation hitting pathogens and controlled heterogeneity of radiobiological sensitivity of pathogens.

This work aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of BH for mechanical fractionation of human brain tissues ex vivo under B-mode guidance, with preliminary measurements of tissue stiffness via shear wave elastography.
Methods: Young's moduli of 25 human autopsy brain samples obtained from de-identified patients of 51-91 y old (median 77 y old) were measured via shear wave elastography prior to BH sonication.
Purpose: To investigate a novel bioimpedance-based respiratory gating system (BRGS) designed for external beam radiotherapy and to evaluate its technical characteristics in comparison with existing similar systems.
Materials And Methods: The BRGS was tested on three healthy volunteers in free breathing and breath-hold patterns under laboratory conditions. Its parameters, including the time delay (TD) between the actual impedance change and the gating signal, temperature drift, root mean square (RMS) noise, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), were measured and analyzed.
Northern pulmonary hypertension (NPH) is a medical condition that is still enigmatic in non-Russian-speaking countries. The extant previous literature is mostly available in the Russian language and, therefore, not accessible to the rest of the world. The recent increased interest in climate changes and environmental effects on pulmonary circulation prompted us to summarize the knowledge from the past about the effects of cold on pulmonary vasculature.

The target volume was sonicated by focusing ultrasound pulses (n=20) of 1.5 MHz frequency, 10-msec duration and 1-sec pulse repetition period, 517 W acoustic power within the pulse, and 103 MPa shock front amplitude at the focus into each node of a volumetric grid 4×4×1 mm.
