After surgical treatment of Charcot neuro-osteoarthropathy (CNO) complicated by plantar ulcer and midtarsal osteomyelitis, offloading is mandatory to protect the surgical site. Total contact casting is, to date, the standard-of-care to offload the foot during the postoperative period. We have compared the application of external circular fixator, to the standard of care, with regard to surgical wound healing and time to healing.

Controlling the spatial arrangement of plasmonic nanoparticles is of particular interest to utilize inter-particle plasmonic coupling, which allows changing their optical properties. For bottom-up approaches, colloidal nanoparticles are interesting building blocks to generate more complex structures controlled self-assembly using the destabilization of colloidal particles. For plasmonic noble metal nanoparticles, cationic surfactants, such as CTAB, are widely used in synthesis, both as shaping and stabilizing agents.

Medical therapy for secondary prevention is known to be under-used in patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD). Few data are available on the subgroup with critical limb ischemia (CLI). Prescription of cardiovascular preventive therapies was recorded at discharge in a large, prospective cohort of patients admitted for treatment of CLI and foot lesions, stratified for coronary artery disease (CAD) diagnosis.

Chiral plasmonic nanomaterials exhibiting intense optical activity are promising for numerous applications. In order to prepare those nanostructures, one strategy is to grow metallic nanoparticles in the presence of chiral molecules. However, in such approach the origin of the observed chirality remains uncertain.

Diabetic patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI) and foot lesions show a poor prognosis. Optimal risk stratification to guide tailored intervention is still uncertain. The aim of the present study was to assess the prognostic role of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-TnT) in such a high-risk population.
