The work addresses the topic of the thermal study of high-voltage power cables installed inside plastic pipes in the absence of filling. The presence of air inside the pipe creates an insulating layer that does not favor heat exchange and makes the calculation of the flow rate more complex, as it is necessary to take into account the thermal phenomena of natural convection and radiation between the surface of the cable and the internal surface of the tube. The numerical model based on the finite element calculation was compared with the experimental results obtained on a simulacrum in which the temperatures on the different layers of the cable were measured.

The Mormon cricket, Anabrus simplex, is a flightless katydid, one of the major devastating rangeland pests in several states of the western United States. During the past few years, their sudden and periodic outbreaks into massive migratory bands caused significant economic losses to the rangeland forage and agricultural crops, particularly grain crops. Current population management methods rely heavily on broad-spectrum chemical insecticides, which could be toxic to nontargets, and even the targeted species might develop resistance in the long run.

Objective: To evaluate the variability of subjective tutor performance improvement (Pi) assessment and to compare it with a novel measurement algorithm: the Pi score.

Materials And Methods: The Pi-score algorithm considers time measurement and number of errors from two different repetitions (first and fifth) of the same training task and compares them to the relative task goals, to produce an objective score. We collected data during eight courses on the four European Association of Urology training in Basic Laparoscopic Urological Skills (E-BLUS) tasks.

Superovulation or ovum pick-up and in vitro fertilization are technologies used to produce an increased number of embryos from elite females. Embryo production traits have been shown to be heritable, but the genes that cause this variability have not yet been assessed. The main objectives of this study were to perform a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to find single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) associated with embryo production traits and to identify candidate genes affecting the number of embryos produced by Holstein donors in Canada that may provide insight into the regulation of embryo production.
