Applying the phenomenology of grief: An autoethnographic study.

In contrast to normative views on grief, phenomenological descriptions of grief aim to provide a comprehensive picture of the lived experience, providing space for both uniqueness and universality. However, it is unclear how application of phenomenological descriptions contributes to bereavement care. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the clinical applicability of phenomenological descriptions of grief through autoethnographic exploration.

[A sick teenage boy with facial pustula and ulcerations].

A 15-year-old boy presented with acne and ulceration since 2 years. After treatment with antibiotics, excision and isotretinoïne, he developed progressive complaints of malaise and respiratory complaints including formation of nasal crusts. Diagnostic evaluation (CT-thorax, ANCA anti-PR3) revealed the diagnosis granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA).

Sexual Development in Perinatally HIV-Infected Young People: A Systematic Review and Explorative Study.

Background: Similar to other young people with a chronic health condition, perinatally HIV-infected (PHIV) adolescents may have an impacted sexual development.

Objectives: This paper aims to compare sexual milestones of PHIV to HIV uninfected peers, through a systematic review (SR) and explorative study.

Methods: We performed a systematic search in 4 electronic databases (Medline, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus), according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.

A Longitudinal Analysis of Cerebral Blood Flow in Perinatally HIV Infected Adolescents as Compared to Matched Healthy Controls.

Despite effective combination anti-retroviral therapy (cART), perinatally HIV infected (PHIV) adolescents still experience cognitive complications. We previously reported higher cerebral blood flow (CBF) in basal ganglia and white matter (WM) in PHIV children compared to matched controls. In healthy children CBF is associated with cognitive domains.

Fatigue in children and adolescents perinatally infected with human immunodeficiency virus: an observational study.

Background: Fatigue is common among adults living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) as well as children with a chronic disease (CCD). Fatigue can have disastrous effects on health status, including health related quality of life (HRQOL). Even so, fatigue is underexplored in children and adolescents perinatally infected with HIV (PHIV+) in the Netherlands.
