The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the fragility of global and domestic seafood markets. We examined the main impacts and responses of the small-scale fisheries (SSF) sector, and found that mitigation and preparedness strategies should be prioritised to boost resilience in SSF. We provide five policy options and considerations: (1) improving access to insurance and financial services; (2) strengthening local and regional markets and supporting infrastructure; (3) recognising fisheries as an essential service; (4) integrating disaster risk management into fisheries management systems; and (5) investing in Indigenous and locally-led fisheries management.

Efficient computational screenings are integral to materials discovery in highly sought-after gas adsorption and storage applications, such as CO capture. Preprocessing techniques have been developed to render experimental crystal structures suitable for molecular simulations by mimicking experimental activation protocols, particularly residual solvent removal. Current accounts examining these preprocessed materials databases indicate the presence of assorted structural errors introduced by solvent removal and preprocessing, including improper elimination of charge-balancing ions and ligands.

Ninety Holstein dairy cows (24 primiparous, 66 multiparous [mean parity 3.0]) were fed diets containing either 150, 160 or 170 g CP/kg DM from 8 - 180 DIM with all diets designed to supply at least 100% MP requirements. On d 181, half of the cows on each treatment changed to a diet containing 140 g CP/kg DM (supplying 100% MP requirements), with the remaining cows continuing to be offered their original treatment diets.

Orally bioavailable, synthetic nonpeptide agonists (NPAs) of the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) may offer an effective, scalable pharmacotherapy to address the metabolic disease epidemic. One of the first molecules in the emerging class of GLP-1R NPAs is orforglipron, which is in clinical development for treating type 2 diabetes and obesity. Here, we characterized the pharmacological properties of orforglipron in comparison with peptide-based GLP-1R agonists and other NPAs.

Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and insulin are important fetal anabolic hormones. Complications of pregnancy, such as placental insufficiency, can lead to fetal growth restriction FGR) with low circulating IGF-1 and insulin concentrations and attenuated glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS), which likely contribute to neonatal glucose dysregulation. We previously demonstrated that a one-week infusion of IGF-1 LR3, an IGF-1 analog with low affinity for IGF binding proteins and high affinity for the IGF-1 receptor, at 6.
