Allogeneic natural killer (NK) cell therapies are a valuable treatment option for cancer, given their remarkable safety and favorable efficacy profile. Although the use of allogeneic donors allows for off-the-shelf and timely patient treatment, intrinsic interindividual differences put clinical efficacy at risk. The identification of donors with superior anti-tumor activity is essential to ensure the success of adoptive NK cell therapies.

The incidence of diseases caused by pathogens transmitted by the tick vary over time and space through incompletely understood mechanisms. An important determinant of the disease risk is the density of infected ticks, which is the infection prevalence times the density of questing ticks. We therefore investigated the spatial and temporal variation of four pathogens and one of the most abundant symbionts in in questing nymphs over four years of monthly collections in 12 locations in the Netherlands.

Genotypic similarities between ExPEC and avian pathogenic (APEC) support a possible role for a poultry meat reservoir in human disease. Some genomic studies have been done on the ST117 lineage which contaminates poultry meat, carries multidrug resistance, can be found in the human intestinal microbiota, and causes human extraintestinal disease.
