Lower Extremity Amputations Among Patients with Diabetes Mellitus: A Five-Year Analysis in a Clinical Hospital in Bucharest, Romania.

: Lower extremity amputations (LEAs) represent a significant health problem. The aim of our study was to analyse the type and trends of diabetes-related LEAs in patients hospitalized in one surgical centre in Bucharest between 2018 and 2021. The second aim was to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the trends of LEAs.

Effect of fragmentation of surgery and adjuvant treatment in high-grade nonendometrioid endometrial cancer: a population-based cohort study.

Background: Fragmented care (FC) occurs when patients receive treatment across several different hospitals. Regionalization of surgery for patients with high-grade endometrial cancer means that patients must travel longer distances to receive care; these patients often require adjuvant treatment after surgery.

Objective: To determine whether the fragmentation of surgery and adjuvant treatment impacts survival in patients with high-grade nonendometrioid endometrial cancer.

Nasal continuous positive airway pressure inhibits gastroesophageal refluxes in the preterm lamb.

Gastroesophageal refluxes (GERs) are universal in newborns and may induce deleterious consequences, especially in preemies. We have previously shown that nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) inhibits GERs in full-term lambs, complementing similar results in adult humans. The effect of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) on GERs, however, remains unknown.

Therapy Response and Survival among Patients with Gynecologic Tumors Treated with Transarterial Chemoperfusion and Transarterial Chemoembolization.

: This study aimed to evaluate the tumor response relating to and survival benefit of transarterial chemoperfusion (TACP) and transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in the treatment of patients with unresectable gynecologic tumors who are intolerant of or have a suboptimal response to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. : Between January 2000 and October 2023, 75 patients diagnosed with gynecologic tumors underwent 213 TACP and 154 TACE procedures. Of these, 33 patients were treated with TACP, 20 were treated with TACE, and 22 received a combination of both therapies.
