Diagnostic challenges of acute appendicitis in preschool children: A comprehensive case-control study.

Aim: Acute appendicitis is a common surgical emergency in children, yet it poses diagnostic challenges in preschool children due to atypical presentation. This case-control study aims to evaluate the distinct characteristics of acute appendicitis in preschool compared to school-aged children.

Methods: Children under 5 years and a control group of children aged 5-10 years, operated on due to acute appendicitis at our institution during 2009-2022 were included.

A novel tool to predict lymph node metastasis in patients with prostate cancer based on clinical and Ga-PSMA PET/CT parameters.

Introduction: We sought to develop a model that predicts lymph node invasion (LNI) in patients with intermediate- and high-risk prostate cancer incorporating preoperative clinical and Ga-prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PSMA PET/CT) parameters.

Methods: A cohort of 413 consecutive patients diagnosed with prostate cancer who underwent Ga- PSMA PET/CT prior to radical prostatectomy from 2015-2020 was used to develop and validate the model. The cohort was split into a learning (70%) and a validation group (30%).

Linear Correlation Between Mean Arterial Pressure and Urine Output in Critically Ill Patients.

Objective: Mean arterial pressure (MAP) plays a significant role in regulating tissue perfusion and urine output (UO). The optimal MAP target in critically ill patients remains a subject of debate. We aimed to explore the relationship between MAP and UO.

Bowel Perforation During Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy: Diagnosis, Management, and Follow-up.

Unlabelled: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is the procedure of choice for large kidney stones, but serious complications such as bowel perforation may occur. We discuss the diagnosis and management of colonic and small-bowel perforations due to PCNL and suggest principles for care and prevention. We emphasize the significance of imaging tools to direct percutaneous access, the importance of early diagnosis, and the relatively high success rate for conservative management.

Dual-energy CT in acute cholecystitis- features predicting culture-positive bile and outcome.

Purpose: Low mono-energetic CT has been shown to improve visualization of acute abdominal inflammatory processes. We aimed to determine its utility in patients with acute cholecystitis and potential added value in clinical decision making.

Methods: Sixty-seven consecutive patients with radiological signs of cholecystitis on contrast-enhanced dual-layer CT imaging were retrospectively identified over a four-year period (2/17-8/21).
