The developing brain undergoes rapid changes throughout middle childhood and adolescence. The disambiguation of long-term changes in intrinsic activity following pediatric mild traumatic brain injury (pmTBI) from typical development can therefore only be ascertained in longitudinal studies with large sample size and at least three serial assessments. A comprehensive clinical battery and resting-state fMRI data were collected approximately 1-week (N = 263; 8-18 years old), 4-months (N = 192) and 1-year (N = 153) post-injury, with identical visits in a large cohort (N = 228) of age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HC).

Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of patients with JSpA with suspected axial disease. Three experts reviewed each case and rated their confidence (-3 to +3) in the presence of axial disease, first with clinical data and second with clinical and MRI data.
Fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) can be employed to investigate membrane lipid mixing of vacuoles in live budding yeast cells and distinguish the fused, hemi-fused or non-fused states of these organelles under physiological conditions. Here, we describe a protocol for labeling the outer and inner leaflets of vacuoles in live cells that allow to detect hemifusion intermediates and, thus, identify components necessary for fusion pore opening.

Cerebral palsy (CP) manifests with abnormal posture and impaired selective motor control, notably affecting trunk control and dynamic balance coordination, leading to inadequate postural control. Previous research has indicated the benefits of pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy for various musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Therefore, we conducted a randomized pilot study to assess the feasibility of our preliminary research design and examine the effect of the PEMF treatment among children with CP.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAccidental ingestion of foreign bodies frequently necessitates emergency department visits, with many cases requiring surgical consultation. Although most ingested items pass through the gastrointestinal tract uneventfully, orthodontic components, such as wires, present a specific risk due to their shape and material properties. This report describes a rare case of a 13-year-old male adolescent whose initial presentation suggested ingestion of a chicken bone.
