Klinefelter Syndrome (KS) is an aneuploid genetic condition in males characterized by at least one additional copy of the X chromosome. Due to fibrotic degeneration of the testis, these patients suffer infertility in the future. The pathogenic mechanism by which this occurs is still not well known.

Factors associated with shisha smoking: Results from a cross-sectional telephone-based survey among the general population adults in Nigeria.

Introduction: In Nigeria, there is very limited evidence on factors that influence shisha smoking, and this hinders effective tobacco control policymaking. We, therefore, aimed to identify factors associated with shisha smoking among the general population adults in Nigeria.

Methods: We conducted a telephone-based, cross-sectional survey between 28 July and 11 September 2022 in 12 states of Nigeria.

Tracking acute flaccid paralysis in Niger: a half-decade epidemiological portrait (2016-2021).

Background: Recently, a total of 74 circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus (cVDPV) outbreaks were detected in 39 countries, with 672 confirmed Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) cases identified in 27 countries. Despite progress, Niger experienced cVDPV outbreaks in 2018, highlighting the importance of maintaining AFP surveillance as a tool for polio eradication. This analysis aims to comprehensively assess AFP surveillance trends, patterns, and challenges in Niger, offering insights for public health initiatives in conflict-affected contexts.

Anti-M2-pyruvate kinase autoantibodies are correlated with digestive damage in human Chagas disease.

Background: Determining esophageal and colon involvement in patients with Chagas disease occurs through invasive and uncomfortable examinations, which in most cases are not performed. The objective of this study was to assess the involvement of anti-M2-pyruvate kinase (M2-PK) autoantibodies in the development of digestive alterations and/or in the diagnosis of the digestive form of human Chagas disease.

Methods: The total IgG and isotype (IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, IgG4) production was quantified using the antigen of Trypanosoma cruzi and the human M2-PK recombinant protein via the ELISA technique.

Exploring the role of Epstein-Barr virus infection on the clinical features and survival in locally advanced cervical cancer: a retrospective cohort study.
