The prospect of a mentor-protégé model in dental hygiene as a supplementary approach to traditional clinical education.

Purpose: This study compared the person-centered approach alone and incorporated the mentor-protégé model to assess differences in self-efficacy, clinical skill acquisition, and anxiety/stress levels.

Methods: This quasi-experimental study recruited a convenience sample of dental hygiene students at New York University during the 2022-2023 academic year. The dental hygiene students who were taught through traditional methods only (control group) and those who experienced the mentor-protégé approach (intervention group) were compared.

Conducting a Systematic Review of the Literature.

This overview of the systematic review provides guidance regarding how and when to use this approach to a research question. High quality systematic reviews are essential to assist health care practitioners keep current with the large and rapidly growing body of scientific evidence. The systematic review is a transparent and reproducible synthesis of all the available evidence on a clearly defined research question or topic.

Narrative Reviews of the Literature: An overview.

This short report guides the reader through the types of narrative reviews and describes the narrative review process from conception to completion. This report is an overview on the topic of literature reviews and serves to provide guidance regarding how and when to use a narrative review approach. Authors have many purposes for selecting the narrative review of the literature including introducing an original research manuscript, reviewing a critical topic for a scholarly journal, creating an introductory chapter for a thesis, or completing a classroom assignment.

The Therapeutic Monoclonal Antibody Bamlanivimab Does Not Enhance SARS-CoV-2 Infection by FcR-Mediated Mechanisms.

As part of the non-clinical safety package characterizing bamlanivimab (SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing monoclonal antibody), the risk profile for antibody-dependent enhancement of infection (ADE) was evaluated in vitro and in an African green monkey (AGM) model of COVID-19. In vitro ADE assays in primary human macrophage, Raji, or THP-1 cells were used to evaluate enhancement of viral infection. Bamlanivimab binding to C1q, FcR, and cell-based effector activity was also assessed.
