Embodied Semantics: Early Simultaneous Motor Grounding in First and Second Languages.

Background/objectives: Although the embodiment of action-related language is well-established in the mother tongue (L1), less is known about the embodiment of a second language (L2) acquired later in life through formal instruction. We used the high temporal resolution of ERPs and topographic ERP analyses to compare embodiment in L1 and L2 and to investigate whether L1 and L2 are embodied with different strengths at different stages of linguistic processing.

Methods: Subjects were presented with action-related and non-action-related verbs in a silent reading task.

[Induction of labor with misoprostol].

The results obtained with the induction of labor with a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin E1: misoprostol, are presented. We reviewed 149 cases of patients admitted to this hospital (The "Policlínico Escuela Eva Perón") for induction of labor throughout a 13-month period of time since 06/01/92 until 06/30/93. All patients had a medical indication for induction of labor, a single pregnancy, cephalic - vertex presentation, no previous surgical scars on uterus, no contraindications for vaginal delivery, Bishop score below 7, gestational age over 37 weeks, and a reactive NST (Non Stress Test).

[Prinzmetal's angor. Apropos of 4 cases. Review of the literature].

In the light of 4 personal observations of PPPRINZMETAL's angina, a review has been conducted of the literature in the 15 years since the condition was first described. Although the formal diagnostic criteria for this form of angina simultaneously clinical, biological and electrical - anginal attacks occurring at rest, often at night, during which elevation of the ST segment is recorded which disappears at the end of the attack without any significant rise in enzyme levels (SGOT and CPK) - the frontiers of the syndrome appear to have widened since PRINZMETAL's description: - Severe proximal stenosis of the coronary arteries is not obligatory; they may be only slightly damaged or even healthy. - Prinzmetal's angina is by no means always "spontaneous" but is often induced, either by psychic factors, which explain the fixed time of the attacks, or by organic factors, e.
