Congenital pulmonary airway malformation (cpam) mimicking an spontaneous pneumothorax in a newborn.

Introduction: Patients with congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM) are usually asymptomatic, but some may present with respiratory distress. We report a rare presentation of a CPAM as an image compatible with persistent and localized spontaneous pneumothorax.

Case Report: A 2-month-old male infant without prenatal diagnosis, postnatal distress or barotrauma, was admitted with acute respiratory symptoms and a right tension pneumothorax on chest X-ray.

Delayed introduction of sirolimus in paediatric intestinal transplant recipients: indications and long-term benefits.

To review our experience using sirolimus in a single centre paediatric intestinal transplantation cohort. Intestinal transplant patients with more than 3 months follow-up were divided into two groups according to their immunosuppression regimen: tacrolimus, (TAC group, n = 45 grafts) or sirolimus (SRL group, n = 38 grafts), which included those partially or completely converted from tacrolimus to sirolimus. The indications to switch were tacrolimus side effects and immunological complications.

Upside-down kidney placement: An alternative in pediatric renal transplantation.

Purpose: "Upside-down" kidney placement has been reported as an acceptable alternative in cases of technical difficulty in kidney transplantation but there are few reports in the pediatric population. The aim of our study is to analyze whether the placement of the upside-down kidney could affect graft outcome or produce more complications.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective study was conducted of pediatric kidney transplants performed in our center between 2005 and 2017 with at least 6 months' follow-up.

Preliminary results of complete delayed primary bladder exstrophy reconstruction in male patients.

Introduction: The success of primary bladder closure in bladder exstrophy (BE) is the determining factor for future capacity and continence. In recent years, owing to the unsatisfactory results of staged repair, complete delayed primary reconstruction has gained prominence.

Objective: To analyze short-term results in male patients with BE undergoing delayed primary closure and compare them with early bladder closure as part of staged repair in our healthcare facility.

Influence of overweight and obesity on acute appendicitis in children. A cohort study.

Introduction: Overweight and obesity are risk factors for the development of postsurgical complications in acute appendicitis in adults. However, there are few studies that evaluate their effects in pediatric patients. We aim to analyze their influence on the postoperative course of acute appendicitis in children.
