Impact of gene mutations and chromosomal aberrations on progression-free survival in chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients treated with front-line chemoimmunotherapy: Clinical practice experience.

The impact of genetic aberrations on rituximab-based therapeutic regimens has been intensely studied in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). According to the current consensus chemoimmunotherapy consisting of rituximab and DNA-damaging drugs is not suitable for patients with TP53 defects. In our study, we focused on CLL patients with an intact TP53 gene and investigated four recurrently mutated genes in CLL, genomic aberrations by FISH, and IGHV status with the aim of analyzing their impact on progression-free survival (PFS) after front-line therapy with FCR (fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, rituximab) or BR (bendamustine, rituximab) regimens.

[Forensic interpretation of postmortal ethanol neogenesis in blood samples of cadaverously decomposed bodies].

There is no real possibility for detail knowledge of postmortal changes of blood alcohol concentration in the near future, so that it is necessary to comment alcoholaemia with special aspect on empirical practice. Potential use of alternative (more resistant to putrefaction) body fluid or tissue can help to distinguish ratio of endogenous and exogenous ethanol. It seems that using of vitreous (eventually urine) is the best way to avoid desinterpretation mistakes of alcoholemia in cadavers.

Butane intoxication--three case reports.

Three cases of butane intoxication with fatal outcome are described. Butane was applied as a gaseous spray from the lighter refill can. With the exception of non-specific signs of asphyxiation such as tiny subepicardial and subpleural haemorrhages and lung oedema, haemorrhagic microruptures of the myocardial fibres were found.
