A constellation of features, including decreased vascularity, lack of lymphatic drainage, and elevated interstitial pressure, diminishes the penetration of therapeutics into tumors. Local hyperthermia within the tumor can alter microenvironmental properties, such as interstitial fluid pressure, potentially leading to improvements in drug penetration.
