Background: Improvement in professional advancement opportunities may reduce turnover and improve retention for perfusionists. However, the current literature lacks examples of professional advancement models (PAMs) for perfusionists.

Methods: This review looks at examples from other healthcare fields to provide the rationale and develop a framework for such a model.

The effects of maternal flow on placental diffusion-weighted MRI and intravoxel incoherent motion parameters.

Purpose: To investigate and explain observed features of the placental DWI signal in healthy and compromised pregnancies using a mathematical model of maternal blood flow.

Methods: Thirteen healthy and nine compromised third trimester pregnancies underwent pulse gradient spin echo DWI MRI, with the results compared to MRI data simulated from a 2D mathematical model of maternal blood flow through the placenta. Both sets of data were fitted to an intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) model, and a rebound model (defined within text), which described voxels that did not decay monotonically.

Characterizing medical decision-making in sickle cell disease during childhood: Qualitative perspectives of caregivers.

Introduction: Sickle cell disease (SCD) is the most common genetic disorder among children. As the most common type of SCD, sickle cell anemia (SCA) is associated with severe complications across the lifespan. As parents/caregivers hold primary disease management responsibility during childhood, their involvement in disease management activities, including medical decision-making, is critical to successful and timely management of pediatric SCD.

Ornamental palm trees as habitat for fauna in the Mediterranean Region - results from a full year monitoring.

In the European Mediterranean Region, palm trees are a common element in cities and semi-urban landscapes and have become important habitat structures for local fauna. This study aimed to monitor the invertebrate and vertebrate fauna occurring on and associated with ornamental palms of the genus , over the course of one year. Five study sites were used in southern Spain, with varying levels of management.
