Cilia play important signaling or motile functions in various organisms. In Human, cilia dysfunctions are responsible for a wide range of diseases, called ciliopathies. Cilia assembly is a tightly controlled process, which starts with the conversion of the centriole into a basal body, leading to the formation of the ciliary bud that protrudes inside a ciliary vesicle and/or ultimately at the cell surface.

Background: Menstrual tampons are widely used in western countries. Indirect evidence suggests that tampon misuse could be associated with an increased risk of menstrual toxic shock syndrome (MTSS). The aim of this study was to determine what characteristics of tampon use are associated with increased risk of menstrual toxic shock syndrome (MTSS).

Motivationally unconscious (M-unconscious) states are unconscious states that can directly motivate a subject's behavior and whose unconscious character typically results from a form of repression. The basic argument for M-unconscious states claims that they provide the best explanation for some seemingly non-rational behaviors, like akrasia, impulsivity, or apparent self-deception. This basic argument has been challenged on theoretical, empirical, and conceptual grounds.

The ergodic propriety of a room has strong effects on its reverberation. If the room is ergodic, the reverberation can be broken up in two steps: a deterministic process followed by a stochastic one. The late reverberation can be then modeled by a reverberation algorithm instead of more computationally consuming methods.

Whereas hormonal therapy (HT) may increase the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke in menopausal women, epidemiological studies (protection in premenopausal women) suggest and experimental studies (prevention of fatty streak development in animals) demonstrate a major atheroprotective action of estradiol (E2). The understanding of the deleterious and beneficial effects of estrogens is thus required at both a cellular and molecular level. Both the endothelium and the immuno-inflammatory system play a key role in the development of fatty streak deposit as well as in the rupture of the atherosclerotic plaque.
