The effect of high-dose Levothyroxine on hearing in patients operated for thyroid cancer.

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the use of high doses of levothyroxine (L-T4) and hearing loss in patients who have undergone surgery for thyroid cancer.

Material Method: After total thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer, patients were divided into two groups according to L-T4 dose below 150 µg and above 150 µg. Demographic characteristics, postoperative duration, radioactive iodine treatment, bone densitometry scans with LDxa and FDxa, and right and left ear hearing levels were statistically compared in both groups.

Alterations in the tear film and ocular surface in pediatric migraine patients.

Purpose: To evaluate the ocular surface (OS) parameters in the pediatric migraine patients (PMPs).

Methods: This prospective case-control study consisted of 51 PMPs (PMP group) and 55 healthy pediatric patients (HPP group). In all participants, tear function was evaluated subjectively using the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, objectively using Schirmer tear test (STT) and tear film disintegration time (TBUT), and with clinical and laboratory examinations (conjunctival impression cytology).

Do We Care Enough About the Presence of Sexual Problems in Diabetic Patients?

Purpose: Sexual health is not only the absence of sexual dysfunction or disability, but also the presence of physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being related to sexuality. The current study aims to determine whether all adult patients who have applied for their regular health check-ups due to diabetes mellitus had ever voluntarily expressed their sexual problems to a specialist and whether they were asked about the presence of sexual dysfunction. It also aims to determine how the physicians attach importance to the issue.

Evaluation of Dry Eye Disease Characteristics of Children With Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and MODY.

Purpose: To assess dry eye disease characteristics of pediatric patients with diabetes.

Methods: Twenty-one patients with type-1 diabetes mellitus (DM), 20 with type-2 DM, 19 with maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY), and 20 control participants were included in the study. Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, tear film break-up time (TBUT) analysis, Schirmer test with anesthesia, and conjunctival impression cytologic analysis were performed.

Objective: Recent studies have suggested that androgenetic alopecia (AGA) may be associated with other disorders, especially metabolic syndrome (MetS). This study aimed to determine whether a connection exists between MetS and AGA based on the thickness of the subcutaneous adipose tissue in the scalp.

Patients And Methods: This cross-sectional study included 34 participants with AGA who had MetS and 33 participants with AGA who did not have MetS.
