Australian occupational therapists' perspectives about the management of driving safety concerns for older people with dementia and mild cognitive impairment.

Introduction: Driving safety may be compromised in people with dementia or mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Occupational therapists assess and screen for driving safety in older people with cognitive impairment. However, little is known about their perspectives relating to these assessments.

G protein Inactivation as a Mechanism for Addiction Treatment.

The endogenous dynorphin/kappa opioid receptor (KOR) system in the brain mediates the dysphoric effects of stress, and KOR antagonists may have therapeutic potential for the treatment of drug addiction, depression, and psychosis. One class of KOR antagonists, the long-acting norBNI-like antagonists, have been suggested to act by causing KOR inactivation through a cJun-kinase mechanism rather than by competitive inhibition. In this study, we screened for other opioid ligands that might produce norBNI-like KOR inactivation and found that nalfurafine (a G-biased KOR agonist) and nalmefene (a KOR partial agonist) also produce long-lasting KOR inactivation.

Background: The rapid advancement of gerontechnology, technologies for older adults, needs a collaboration that integrates the efforts of researchers, industry and community partners. Multisector collaboration fosters a holistic view of technologies, merging industry expertise, academic rigour, and the lived experiences of older adults and caregivers. This paper explores the role of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) perspectives in Patient and Public Involvement (PPI).

Protocol for the quantitative analysis of images retrieved by multiplex immunofluorescence staining to allow cell type-specific spatial phenotyping of markers of interest in the human placenta.

In contrast to other tissues, the placenta consists of numerous functionally different cell types, distributed in a markedly dissimilar manner within one placenta and between different cases. To evaluate pathology-specific changes in cell phenotype and expression of molecular markers it is important to establish a multi staining method combining immunohistological identification of the cell type with staining of proteins of interest. We successfully established a protocol for a 6-plex antibody panel for multiplex immunofluorescence.
