Background: Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) induce body weight loss, but their effect on skeletal muscle mass (SMM) and strength needs to be better elucidated.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of SGLT2i on SMM in a real-life population setting of patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Secondary outcomes included changes in liver steatosis and in anthropometric and glucometabolic parameters.

Background: Metachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) is an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease caused by deficiency in arylsulfatase A (ASA) activity arising primarily from ASA gene (ARSA) variants. Late-infantile, juvenile and adult clinical subtypes are defined by symptom onset at ≤ 2.5, > 2.

Studies based on fish early life stages can provide information on spawning grounds and nursery areas, helping to determine the implications for stock biomass fluctuations of recruitment variability. This study describes the composition, abundance, spatial distribution and differences in day/night vertical distribution of ichthyoplankton in the southern Adriatic Sea. Samples were collected within the framework of the COCONET project (Towards COast to COast NETworks of marine protected areas) from 9 to 18 May 2013 by the , using the electronic multinet EZ-NET BIONESS (Bedford Institute of Oceanography Net Environmental Sampling System).

X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA) is a primary immunodeficiency characterized by marked reduction in serum immunoglobulins and early-onset infections. Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia in immunocompromised patients presents clinical and radiological peculiarities which have not yet been completely understood. Very few cases of agammaglobulinemic patients with COVID-19 have been reported since the beginning of the pandemic in February 2020.

By combining real-field observations and theoretical predictions, we describe role and relationships among north-propagating internal solitary waves (ISWs) generated by tidal currents in the Messina Strait (Mediterranean Sea), buoyancy deformation, sediment resuspension, and mixing effects. In particular, our results show that the presence of ISWs traveling along the Gioia Basin (north of the Strait) is not strictly related to seasonality. During winter, when the remote observation of ISWs from satellite is particularly rare due to the weak water column stratification, we observe elevation-type ISWs from hydrographic data.
