Root resorption is reported as a microscopic finding in trials attempting to regenerate the periodontium using tetracycline or citric acid root conditioning. This report deals with a case of progressive cervical root resorption in a female patient who had been successfully treated by tetracycline root conditioning. The article emphasizes the possibility of this adverse effect, and discusses a possible mechanism inducing this phenomenon.

Postsurgical flap placement might affect the outcome of the operative procedure. Modified Widman flap surgery with primary closure and flap approximation (usually away from the bone crest) and apically positioned flap surgery with near crestal bone positioning are both widely used in surgical periodontal treatment. Several comparative investigations have studied these modalities, however, none have been able to show conclusively that either is superior to the other.

Hypophosphatasia, an inheritable metabolic disorder affecting calcification, has been shown to have various oral manifestations. Recently, it was suggested that it may serve as a predisposing factor in the pathogenesis of early-onset periodontitis. The present study was designed to examine the frequency of hypophosphatasia among patients with juvenile periodontitis and rapidly progressive periodontitis.
