Acute Myocarditis Associated with Acute Myocardial Infarction.

Concomitant acute myocarditis and acute coronary thrombosis is a rare presentation of acute chest pain in the emergency department, although the association between acute infections with a variety of pathogens and an increased risk of myocardial infarction has been reported. A case of acute myocardial infarction associated with acute myocarditis caused by coronavirus 229E in a middle-aged man without risk factors for coronary artery disease is described here. Coronary CT angiography with late enhancement protocol revealed areas of myocarditis and infarction, and cardiac MRI and coronary angiography were then performed.

This work reports an amperometric enzyme-electrode prepared with glucose oxidase, which have been immobilized by a cross-linking step with glutaraldehyde in a mixture containing albumin and a novel carbon nanotubes-mucin composite (CNT-muc). The obtained hydrogel matrix was trapped between two polycarbonate membranes and then fixed at the surface of a Pt working electrode. The developed biosensor was optimized by evaluating different compositions and the analytical properties of an enzymatic matrix with CNT-muc.

Background: Clinical and molecular factors are essential to define the prognosis in patients with glioblastoma (GBM). O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase (MGMT) methylation status, age, Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS), and extent of surgical resection are the most relevant prognostic factors. Our investigation of the role of gender in predicting prognosis shows a slight survival advantage for female patients.
