While the plasma phylloquinone (PK) concentration is inversely correlated with cardiovascular risk, the involvement of PK in regulating endothelial function has not been directly investigated. Therefore, in this study we assessed the effects of short-term treatment with PK-deficient diets (5-10 weeks) on endothelial function in normolipidemic 14-week-old male C57BL/6JCmd mice and age-matched dyslipidaemic male E3L.CETP mice.

An insight into the route from CO fixation to CO-bridged dinuclear lanthanide(III) complexes featuring inner coordination post-synthetic modification.

An insight into the route from the fixation of CO gas into CO and the concomitant formation of a novel series of carbonato-bridged dinuclear lanthanide(III) complexes is presented. Efficient and quantitative conversion of CO gas into CO is confirmed by deliberately employing CO gas as a reagent. The feature of inner coordination post-synthetic modification is demonstrated ligand substitution at the terminally axial coordination sites of the dinuclear motifs.

Background: The melolabial interpolation flap is an effective surgical technique for reconstructing defects in the nasal ala and tip regions. Traditionally, this technique involves waiting for the standard 3-week period before pedicle division.

Objective: To evaluate whether accelerated takedown at 1- or 2-week postflap creation is possible while maintaining the flap's viability and functionality.

Desert ants avoid ambush predator pits depending on position, visual landmarks and trapped nestmates.

Central-place foragers face high predation risk when repeatedly using routes near their nest, as predators can learn to ambush them there. We investigated the factors influencing the likelihood of desert ant foragers falling into pitfall traps, simulating common predators such as antlions or spiders. We varied the spatial configuration of the pitfall traps, the presence of trapped nestmates and the availability of visual landmarks to study the workers' susceptibility to falling into pits and their foraging success.

Investigating determinants of surgical success in excising basal cell and cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas of the head and neck: A single-center retrospective analysis.

This study aimed to identify factors influencing the completeness of primary and re-excision of basal cell carcinoma (BCC), cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and cutaneous carcinoma in situ (CIS) of the head and neck. A retrospective single-center analysis was conducted, encompassing 1513 instances of cutaneous tumors recorded between 2015 and 2022. This dataset comprised 1108 primary excisions and 405 re-excisions, all of which were histologically verified cases of BCC, SCC, and CIS located within the head and neck region.
