Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels affect the length of hospital stays (LOS) for adult patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) admitted to Internal Medicine departments from 2014 to 2022.
  • - Out of 19,066 patients, 7.9% had elevated TSH levels, which correlated with longer hospital stays both before and after matching for other variables, indicating that these patients experience prolonged LOS compared to those with normal TSH levels.
  • - The findings highlight the connection between elevated TSH and increased LOS in hospitalized diabetic patients, suggesting that hypothyroidism may need more attention in their treatment plans.
